"E-Health and Artificial Intelligence. The new paradigm of Medicine 4.0”.

                 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The telemedicine has become a discipline well-accepted by the patients and the medical staff to improve the medical services in the future evolution of the society. It is now worth to explore how telemedicine and its methods and systems that have become practical tools can contribute to the evolution of the medical services dealing with the current needs of patients and medical about inclusivity and wellbeing in the digital society.

In this scope, telemedicine can improve the quality of life of the patients bringing doctor and hospitals closer to the patients and making medicine more inclusive, since one of the current more impelling issues is how to sustain full inclusiveness of general healthcare systems. Indeed, telemedicine tools, systems and methods can support ageing people, chronic patients, but also people living in remote areas that are penalized by the long distances from the medical centers to access to medical treatments and therapies overcoming the societal and logistic limitations and difficulties in accessing primary medical cares. Furthermore this third edition is also focused on the widespread need of wellbeing as a reaction of the pandemic period, especially after the announcement of the conclusion of the pandemic phase.

Telemedicine and e-Health leverage the pervasive communication and computing technologies that are today available, in order to answer the aforementioned needs of health monitoring and remote medical tutoring. In particular, Telemedicine and e-Health can take advantage of the current technology evolution in the field of Pervasive Computing, IoT, Artificial Intelligence toward a complex ecosystem that can answer to the needs of improving the life quality of patients and the quality of the received cares. The provision of new medical tools can make easier and safe the access to primary cares for a mass population, also providing solutions for the advanced diagnostics, making the right to access healthcare one of the primary values of a society targeting inclusivity of the population.

The TELMED Workshop will investigate the design, realisation and assessment of innovative computing, networking, and communication technologies as enablers to improve and sustain the access to various services all supporting and promoting a more inclusive remote health care. These technologies coupled or embedded in medical protocols or devices can answer these new challenges, stimulating the introduction of new products, systems, devices, and tools for ensuring a continuous, efficient, effective, and inclusive health monitoring and medical assistance, both supporting patients at their home, including those living in remote areas, and citizens accessing primary care, also fostering new medical capabilities in hospitals.

Authors of academia and industry are encouraged to submit full papers describing original, previously unpublished research results, not currently under review by another conference or journal, addressing forefront research and development in the area of Telemedicine and e-Health with a particular focus on, but is not limited to, the following topics:

  •   Technologies and applications in support of medical services: field trials, new solutions, systems, models, applications in support of medical services to ensure the access to medical or primary cares promoting the inclusiveness of all the citizens, in particular of weaker and disadvantaged categories (ageing people, pregnancies and infants, minorities, poor and marginalized people, people living in remote areas, non-digital literate people), and also to reduce hospitalization.
    •  Technologies and applications enabling remote medical monitoring and tutoring: Telemedicine and e-Health to support critical patients (ageing people, chronic patients, pregnancies and infants, oncologic patients). Telediagnosis solutions.
    •   Advanced data elaboration techniques: Artificial intelligence, Data fusion, electronic patient record systems, and context elaboration in Telemedicine and e-Health.
Communications and networking technologies: Communications and networking systems and technologies for Telemedicine and e-Health to improve medical services, to promote a more inclusive heath care and to support remote medical monitoring.
    •  Security and privacy issues in Telemedicine and e-Health.
